Happiness

Over the weekend I had a discussion with a friend that made me think (again) about happiness.

I believe that happiness is totally overrated.
Here's why - happiness is a by product of other positive feelings and actions.
As with most things it is experiencing the journey that is most important.
The goal is to feel you have done your best, or feel a sense of achievement, or enjoy being with your friends, a multitude of things and then happiness sneaks up on you and there it is,
you feel happy.
Our feelings only last 90 seconds so to keep the feeling of happiness we need to feed it. Don't scoff and say how do you do that!
It's easy, you do exactly the same thing you do when you feed those sad, negative feelings but with sweetness and light.

This talk from Chris Anderson of TED.com just has a wee funny happiness bit in it so just watch it.
Besides, could you really stand being happy all the time?

    i have to disagree totally
happiness is not over rated at all
happiness is partly by product of other positive feelings and very small part from actions.
a sense of acheivement is not always happiness but satifaction/gratification
i feel sorry for anyone whos feelings last for 90 sec with out feeding it
    love is a great example!!!
