I'm sitting in my office (that is a open plan office so my office is subjective but I do have a wall that is all mine) eating my cottage pie (one made with beef mince rather than lamb mince, that will come later) and thinking about how big and juicy the lambies are getting.
Seriously I picked them up on Saturday and already they fit their collars
that's a technical measuring tool that all serious sheep farmers use.
I'm also thinking about how helpful my young farmers are
once again the concept of 'my' is subjective.
Sometimes I do think if my young farmers as pets cause they are all so young
and often naughty little beggars.
Some absolutely do not fit into the 'pet' category but mostly
because they are way too big to be pets.
With them I have to use additional, wily skills to encourage compliance.
Good thing I helped introduce the Compliance Model to the NZ tax dept way back when so I have a range of wily and useful skills on hand.
Many of them I learned at the elbow of Mags a.k.a Super Flirt chicka bow wow.
But back to how helpful my young farmers are.... very helpful for when I worry about Poppy's weepy eye or when the babies need tailing (don't go there, it's getting done) or for when I need wood chopped or tractor driving lessons or for when the babies need slaughtering (you didn't think I'd be doing the job myself did you?) or when we need to move premises. Actually the list is endless about how helpful my young farmers are.
This morning on my way into Methven, I couldn't help but notice some of the dodgey as ski outfits people are wearing. Firstly it I cracks me up that the locals (and I include me here) consider winter wear a heavier jacket than usual, a scarf and maybe gloves. The tourists, well they wear every remotely wintery piece of clothing they can find.
Seriously I think the companies that make golf clothes also make the ski outfits I've been seeing.
AnAqua plaid ski jacket with matching aqua pants, lime green pants with a splash pattern in lots fo neon colours for the jacket and these are the men.
Keep in mind that we get lots of European ski teams doing their 'summer' training here and you'd think they would know better except that they are European and in my experience there are really dodgy fashions in Europe.
Oh well it gives us something to talk about over lunch.
