you thought I'd stopped posting about earthquakes....
just now a 5.1 magnitude about 10kms away from us at a depth of 12kms and long!
Long enough to make me stop what I was doing to look at the doorway - like looking at the doorway is going to help me.
I think 5.1 means it was an earthquake in it's own right.
Last Friday I drove home along Telegraph Road where the most visible and photographed rift is. I kind of forgot the damage would be there but it's so obvious even with some repairs made -as below.
You gotta understand, in Canterbury the roads are long and dead straight. Turns only really occur at intersections and even then they are onto roads that are still straight as.
Telegraph Road has shifted four metres sideways.
The scary bit you can't see here is the mature trees in the foresty parts either side of the road have collapsed and toppled on each other.
There's still lots of damage around.
It doesn't disappear when the cameras stop.
