Earthquakes get you a big sympathy vote at the moment so you have to milk it.
Two stages, one big screen.
Always easier to watch the big screen I think.
Me and Ali von der bar wandered along, and I mean wandered.
We stopped at the Dux first for yummy salads and finally made it about 2pm
(for a 11am start, that wasn't too bad)
the line up was pretty good
the usual folk
Ray Columbus, Dave Dobyn, The Exponents, Bic Runga
Loved Evermore and The Eastern - both were great
plus the awesome and funny as Anika Moa
(not funny as Anika, just funny as)
If you ever get the chance go see her live
'tween her thoughtful music and her funny quips
you'll have the best time.
All the best people were there
there was also condom head Bob Parker, earthquake mayor of the century.
Bob played with The Bats - who are really old!
Plus hordes of young girls
I'm not sure how they got so young or how it was that their parents were letting them run around, squealing a freaken lot.
Helped Ali and me get closer and closer to the front though
Every time more squeally girls joined the already large group of squeally girls behind us,
we would move forward, staking our claim with our traditional tartan rug.
There was heaps going on and as the day went on the bass got doof doofi-er until it was rather similar to the low rumble of an earthquake as it vibrated through my body.
In the end there was 120,000 people there
which was pretty much everyone in the South Island,
just joking there are a million people in the South Island,
they just live in the mountains and are hard to spot.
There were trippy girls and really white girls dancing, kids running around, giant vodafone balloons floating around, cool breezes, great bands, sunshine, happy, relaxing fun.
Ali decided, and I think she is right, this was the wake for the earthquake.
We are done.
Over earthquakes, feeling better, summers coming
There was a tremor this afternoon
but I slept through it
so there you go all over it.
There weren't any hot dogs on sticks though.

I was gutted about the hotdogs.
ReplyDeleteAnd what was with the wee girl apologising for standing on my foot in the pit? Teenagers!
